Stolen property - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police are investigating the theft of two large chain link gates from a property south of Alice Springs.

The two large chain mesh link gates, which were located at the rear of the south Stuart Highway property, had been unhinged and stolen sometime between Sunday February 9 and Saturday February 15.

The steel chain mesh link gates are 4.5mtrs in length and 2.3mtrs in height and have three rows of barbed wired at the top.

Superintendent James O’Brien said the theft of the gates was highly unusual and disappointing.

“This is one of those strange instances where you just shake your head and ask why. For someone to steal these gates you would need to know exactly where they are and how large and heavy they were so as to ensure you had the right equipment to pick them up,” said Superintendent O’brien

“With that in mind I ask anyone who saw a large set of gates being transported around the Alice Springs area over the past week to call police on 131444 or on Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and provide any information you may have”.
