Suspect hit and run - Southern

Northern Territory Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident in which a man was left with significant injuries by the side of the road in the remote outback on Tuesday night.

A passing motorists found a 41-year-old man lying next to the Stuart Highway three kilometres south of Barrow Creek with significant leg injuries and a non-life threatening head wound around 12:30am on Wednesday.

The motorist drove the injured man to the Barrow Creek Roadhouse for assistance before transporting him to the Ti Tree Health Clinic. The injured man was later medivac’d to the Alice Springs Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit and Detectives from Southern Serious Crime Unit are investigating how the man suffered the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detectives are calling for any motorists who were travelling on the Stuart Highway between 11pm on Tuesday January 14 and 12:30am on Wednesday January 15, 2020 to contact them on 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 9188825.
