Detectives are investigating an alleged assault at a private residence in Karama overnight.

A 55-year-old woman who had fallen asleep after drinking with friends and family, woke to find an acquaintance had allegedly assaulted her as she slept.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Grieve said, “A crime scene has been established and investigations are underway.

“The alleged offender and victim are believed to be known to each other; Police do not believe there is any risk to public safety relating to this incident.”
