Call for information – Historic assault – Mindil Beach

Police

NT Police are continuing an investigation into an historic assault of a 17-year-old girl in bushland near Mindil Beach in December 2019 and are calling for information.

The girl was allegedly assaulted by a man wearing a blue surgical face mask. He is otherwise described as having dark skin and black hair, age undetermined.

Detective Senior Constable Scott Pearson said, “We have exhausted all avenues of inquiry and we are hoping that we may jog the memory of someone who was in the area. This incident occurred prior to the pandemic, so it would have been unusual to see someone wearing a surgical mask.

“Police would like in particular to speak to a woman who was walking her dog in the area at the time, who stopped to ask the girl if she was all right and gave her some water.”

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the incident however she was disoriented at the time and was not able to provide clear descriptions of either the offender or the woman who helped her afterward.
