Call for information – Hit and run – Wagaman

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses after a man was hit by a car in Wagaman last night.

At around 11:15pm, an unknown vehicle struck the male pedestrian as he crossed Vanderlin Drive.  The unknown driver of the vehicle failed to stop to assist the man who was knocked to the ground.

The injured man was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries.

Police closed off Vanderlin Drive while Major Crash detectives worked through the night to process the scene and record evidence.  The crime scene was closed and the road reopened this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, “Police are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to make contact with police as soon as possible.  Detectives are presently reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.

“Any witnesses to the crash are urged to contact police on 131 444.

“The driver, or passengers of the vehicle, or anyone with any information who can identify those involved are also urged to make contact with police, and can do so anonymously if they wish through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersnt.com.au.”
