Northern Territory Police have charged a 21-year-old male in relation to a serious assault in Karama on Thursday evening.

It is alleged the man assaulted a three-old boy after having approached the child in the front yard of his house.

A passer-by who witnessed the incident came to the child’s aid and notified police. The male was arrested shortly after the incident.

He was later charged and remanded in custody to appear in court today.

The matter is now before the court and no further comment will be made.
