Charges - Aggravated assault - Parap

Northern Territory Police have charged a 37-year-old male in relation to an alleged aggravated assaulted in Parap yesterday.

At around 3am, two men had engaged in an altercation when it escalated and the man allegedly assaulted a 37-year-old male with an edged weapon, before fleeing the scene.

The victim suffered serious injury to his stomach and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance.

Later that day, police located the alleged offender in Palmerston where he was arrested. He was charged with:

  • Acts intended to cause serious harm

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Local Court tomorrow.

The 37-year-old victim remains at Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition after undergoing surgery.
