Northern Territory Police have upgraded charges against a 29-year-old man after an assault victim died in hospital.

On Friday 1 April 2021, NT Police responded to a report of a collapsed man in Knuckey Lagoon.  

The 46-year-old man was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital where it was discovered he had sustained life threatening injuries.  As a result of investigations, a 29-year-old man who was known to the victim, was arrested on 4 April 2021 for unlawfully cause serious harm and was remanded in custody.

Detective Sergeant Justene Dwyer said, “The victim died from his injuries on 10 April 2021 and an additional charge of Violent act cause death has been laid against the offender”.

Investigations are still ongoing.

The man will next appear in Darwin Local Court on 2 June 2021.
