Northern Territory Police have charged one man and issued notices to appear to two other men for drug related offences in Alice Springs.

Detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigations Branch and the Dog Operations Unit executed a search warrant on a residential premises in The Gap on Saturday, targeting dangerous drugs.

Drug Detection Dog Yakka reacted to several locations around the property and police located a total of 4.9kg of cannabis.

A 45-year-old man was charged for possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis. He was remanded to appear before Alice Springs Local Court on 13 September 2021.

As a result of the search, a 46-year-old male was issued a Notice to Appear for possession of a less than traffickable quantity of methamphetamine and cannabis. A 45-year-old male was also issued a Notice to Appear for possession of an electroshock weapon and a less than traffickable quantity of cannabis.

Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said, “The supply and distribution of illicit substances into Alice Springs and its surrounding communities causes significant harm. The Northern Territory Police will continue to work tirelessly within the community to target individuals, and criminal networks, to disrupt the supply of these substances.”
