Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged two women following a traffic apprehension in Darwin’s inner suburbs yesterday.

A 31-year-old woman was pulled over by police on Tiger Brennan Drive and tested positive to a roadside drug test.

Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Barram said, “Police searched her vehicle and located a traffickable quantity of methamphetamine and a large amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

“Police then executed a search warrant at the woman’s residence in Bayview, where a further amount of methamphetamine and a large amount of cash, also believed to be the proceeds of crime, was located.”

A 24-year-old woman at the residence was also arrested.

“Evidence obtained at the residence led to a further search warrant being executed at another location, where cannabis and a very substantial amount of cash, also believed to be the proceeds of crime, was located.”

The 31-year-old was charged with:

  • Supplying a commercial quantity of schedule 1 dangerous drug
  • Possessing a traffickable quantity of schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Breach suspended sentence
  • Drive drug in blood
  • Possessing tainted property
  • Possess schedule 8 drug
  • Possess a prohibited weapon

The 24-year-old was charged with:

  • Supplying a commercial quantity of schedule 1 dangerous drug
  • Possessing a less than traffickable quantity of schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Possessing tainted property
  • Furnish false name and address
  • Use air ticket purchased with false ID
  • Possess schedule 8 drug

Both women were remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
