Charges – Property crime – Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged an 18-year-old in relation to property and violence offences committed in Palmerston on Monday 6 September.

Police allege a group of males, aged between nine and 18, was responsible for five unlawful entries, two motor vehicle thefts, criminal damage and stealing from residences in Gunn, Rosebery, Moulden, Woodroffe and a commercial premises in Durack throughout the day.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “The same 18-year-old was also identified as an offender in an aggravated assault on a bus in Palmerston on Monday afternoon”.

The man has been charged with:

  • 1 x Recruitment of a child
  • 3 x Unlawful entry - dwelling
  • 2 x Trespass on premises
  • 4 x Stealing
  • 3 x Damage to property
  • 2 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Going armed in public
  • 1 x Possess / carry / use offensive weapon
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of vehicle
  • 1 x Drive unlicensed
  • 1 x Resist police in execution of duty

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 9 September.

A 13-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act, and the nine-year-old was returned to the care of a responsible adult. Police are still to arrest a fourth offender.
