Northern Territory Police have arrested a man for an alleged sexual assault on a family member.

Police received a report yesterday from the victim claiming a relative had assaulted her that morning.

The alleged offender was located and arrested shortly afterwards in a community in the Katherine region.

The 54-year-old man was charged with Sexual intercourse without consent and remanded in custody to appear in Katherine Local Court today.
