Northern Territory Police have charged a 19-year-old male with offences committed against a 14-year-old female following an incident in Palmerston last year.

It’s alleged that in September 2020, the male engaged in sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old. 

Detectives from the Child Abuse Taskforce investigated the matter and arrested the male on the morning of the 17th March 2021.

He has been charged with:

•          2 x sexual intercourse with child under 16 years

The male was remanded in custody overnight and will face Darwin Local Court today.

Due to the matter now being before court no further comment will be made.
