Crims target grog in break ins - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to an unlawful entry of a licensed premises in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Initial investigations indicate an unknown offender forced entry into the licensed premises on Traeger Avenue just after 3am on Sunday 14 February.

Once inside the property, the man filled a shopping bag with a large quantity of alcohol before leaving the scene.

Detective Senior Sergeant Evan Kelly said they were seeking public assistance to identify the man (pictured) who they believe can assist with inquiries.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal in appearance, with a tall build, curly long hair with the top part bleached, sleeveless denim jacket, grey long sleeve shirt , black and white runners.

“Strike Force Viper members have carriage of this investigation,” said D/S/Sgt Kelly

“Unfortunately this business, along with the three others which were targeted by offenders, sustained a significant amount of damage as a result.”

“We urge anyone with information which can assist us in identifying those involved in this unlawful behaviour, to contact police on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“We are yet to determine if the offender/s responsible for this incident are linked to other unlawful entry incidents which targeted other licensed premises throughout the weekend.”

Unknown offenders targeted four licensed premises; two in the CBD, one in Larapinta and one on Traeger Avenue. In the period of 6am Friday 12 February and 6am Monday 15 February, there has been 14 unlawful entries reported to police.
