Northern Territory Police are investigating a single vehicle crash in which a woman has died in Alice Springs.

Around 11:30am a passing motorist alerted police to the crash in which the vehicle was found in scrub land off the Tanami Road, 20kms from the Stuart Highway intersection.

The woman, who we believe was the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

Detectives from Major Crash Investigation Unit are part of the team investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
