Fatal – Hit and run – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating a hit and run in Alice Springs last night.

Police responded to a crash between a white Holden Captiva and a motorcycle on the Ross Highway shortly after 6.30pm.

CPR was conducted but the rider was declared deceased at the scene.

The Captiva was damaged and abandoned at the scene.  The occupants left the area immediately after the crash.

Detectives from Major Crash and Criminal Investigation Branch attended the scene to investigate and later in the night arrested a 52-year-old man who remains in custody.

Police urge anyone with information, particularly anyone who travelled on the Ross Highway who observed a white Holden Captiva and anyone who stopped at the crash scene, to contact them on 131 444.
