Further Arrests – Death – East Arnhem Region

Northern Territory Police have made four further arrests in relation to an incident in Yirrkala on Wednesday in which a 16-year-old male died and three other males were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

A 49-year-old male was yesterday charged with one count of murder.

Investigations by Major Crime detectives identified an additional four people who could assist with their enquiries into the injuries suffered by the other three men.

At around 11.30am this morning two males, aged 21 and 35 were arrested in Yirrkala.

Following discussion with community members, a male aged 22 and a youth aged 17 handed themselves in to police in Nhulunbuy.

The four people will be interviewed this afternoon.
