A heightened police presence has had a tangible impact on youth crime and antisocial behaviour in Darwin’s northern suburbs.

A week ago NT Police responded to a sudden surge in youth criminal activity in the area by increasing foot patrols, with the Mounted Unit and the Dog Operations Unit deployed in hotspot areas.

“We maintained constant foot patrols around Casuarina in the days and evenings, and then moved to Karama in the early evenings.

“The operation will continue through until the end of the school holidays.”

During the week, members laid multiple charges, including:

  • 3 x Unlawful entry
  • 17 x Stealing
  • 2 x Robbery
  • 4 x Assault
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Disorderly behaviour
  • 1 x Breach DVO

Additionally, police executed two warrants and 19 litres of alcohol were also destroyed.
