UPDATE 2 - Charges - Aggravated robbery - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged four youths in relation to an aggravated robbery incident in which two people were assaulted and multiple criminal damages were caused in Alice Springs on Monday night.

It will be alleged a 28-year-old woman was approached by a group of upwards of 15 youths who physically assaulted her before entering her car and stealing food, cash and other items.

A passing motorists who witnessed the attack stopped to help the woman when it is further alleged he was set upon by the group, who attacked him. The 43-year-old man attempted to flee in his vehicle when he clipped one of the youth, who followed the vehicle before throwing an object and causing a window to smash, covering a female passenger in glass.

A second bystander who witnessed this assault came to the aid of the man, and removed the man’s young child from the rear passenger seat before taking cover inside the take-away restaurant.

It is further alleged two youths aged 10 and 13-years-old continued to damage the vehicle before fleeing with the rest of the group.

Members of Strike Force Viper located and arrested four of the offenders, who were charged and bailed to appear before court at a later date.

A 14 year old female has been charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Trespass

A 10 year old male has been charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated robbery.
