Serious Crime Squad members have arrested and charged a 57-year-old man in relation to an assault that occurred at a licensed premises on Mitchell Street last year.

It is alleged the man assaulted a 48-year-old man in an unprovoked attack on 30 January 2021, resulting in the victim suffering a mild concussion and serious factures to his back.

The victim attended the Darwin Police Station where he made a formal complaint earlier this month and the matter was investigated by police, who located and arrested the 57-year-old man today.  

He was taken to Palmerston Watch House and charged with one count of unlawfully cause serious harm.

He is scheduled to appear before the Darwin Local Court on 10 February 2022.
