Call for information – Property offences – Alice Springs

Police

Four youths who unlawfully entered and caused significant property damage at a childcare centre in Alice Springs have been apprehended by Northern Territory Police.

Around 8:15pm on Friday police responded to a report of an unlawful entry at a childcare centre on Woods Terrace.

Members of the Alcohol Policing Unit arrived on scene and located four youths, aged between 8 and 12 years, who are alleged to have caused significant property damage to the classrooms and office areas.

Police located the centre’s resident turtle ‘Dolly’, who was found in a backpack, unharmed. Officers returned Dolly to her tank.

Additional searches of the area were conducted by the Southern Drone Operation Unit and further investigations by police located two iPads stolen in an unlawful entry of a separate school earlier that evening.

Investigations are yet to determine whether the unlawful entry is linked to two other unlawful entries at a primary school in Braitling and a primary school on Lovegrove Drive on Friday evening.

Anyone who has information that may assist with investigations is urged to contact police on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 10042251.
