Northern Territory Police have charged a 31-year-old woman for assaulting a security guard over the weekend.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, general duties members were called to the licensed premises on Mitchell Street following an altercation between the woman and the security guard.

It is alleged that the woman was asked to leave the premises due to disorderly behaviour before being escorted outside. The woman then allegedly assaulted the security guard before biting him on the chest.

Police arrested the woman at the scene. During the arrest, it was identified that the woman was in breach of the Chief Health Officer’s Directions by attending the premises.

She has been issued with an infringement notice for contravention of emergency declaration, in addition to charges for:

  • Assault worker – suffers harm
  • Return to licensed premises after exclusion

The woman was bailed to appear before Darwin Local Court on 22 February 2022.
