Charges – Counterfeit currency – Darwin

Detective from Strike Force Trident have charged a 30-year-old man with counterfeit and other offences.

Police allege the man has been involved with the recent distribution of counterfeit currency throughout Darwin, and related offending. The man evaded police on 16 June after members terminated a short pursuit due to dangerous driving.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “He was arrested yesterday at a location in Malak by members of the Territory Response Group.

“Trident detectives executed a search warrant on the property and located a number of incriminating items.”

The man has been charged with:

  • Possessing counterfeit money or counterfeit securities
  • Assault a worker
  • Damage to property
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle with plates calculated to deceive
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Drive manner dangerous during pursuit

He has been remanded to appear 24 June 2022.

Investigations are ongoing.
