Charges – Domestic violence – Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to numerous domestic violence offences.

It is alleged that the 31-year-old man physically and sexually assaulted his female partner on a number of occasions beginning in December 2021. He also allegedly threatened to distribute sexually explicit images of his partner during that time.  

Detectives from the Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Unit arrested the 31-year-old man yesterday. He has been charged with:

  • 1 x Sexual intercourse without consent
  • 2 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Deprive a person of personal liberty
  • 1 x Threaten to distribute intimate images
  • 3 x Breach domestic violence order
  • 1 x Damage to property

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Officer in charge of the Domestic and Family Violence Section Michael Budge said “This was a prolonged, cowardly act of violence that was completely reprehensible.

“Domestic and family violence has no place in our community.”
