Charges – Drug offences – Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to drug offences in Alice Springs today.

Members from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigations Branch, with the assistance of the Dog Operations Unit and general duties police, conducted a search warrant at the man’s residential address.

Police seized a commercial quantity of cannabis, an amount of Australian currency and a sophisticated hydroponics set-up.

Investigators arrested a 35-year-old man at the address and he has since been charged with:

  • Possess commercial quantity of schedule two dangerous drug

  • Cultivate a trafficable quantity of cannabis in the presence of a child

He was bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on 7 February 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said, “The cultivation, sale and manufacture of dangerous drugs in the Northern Territory will not be tolerated.

“To be cultivating drugs in the presence of a child is grossly irresponsible and this man will face court for his actions.”
