Charges – Robbery – Karama

Northern Territory Police have charged a 12-year-old male in relation to a robbery that occurred on Saturday.

At 7:00pm, a group allegedly attended a fuel station in Malak and stole a number of confectionary items, before knocking over shelving and leaving the area.

Later that evening, the group attended a shopping centre in Karama and jumped the counter before stealing a quantity of cigarette packets and fleeing to a nearby complex.

A 40-year-old man was standing near his Toyota Yaris in the car park of the complex when one of the offenders allegedly pushed the man in the chest before taking the victim’s car keys from his hand and fleeing in the vehicle.

Throughout the evening the vehicle was driven to multiple locations before being captured on CCTV refuelling in Durack.

Strike Force Trident members attended a residence in Malak the following day and located the 12-year-old driver. During the arrest, the youth has allegedly kicked the attending officer before being taken to Palmerston Watch House.

He was later charged with:

  • Stealing x 3
  • Robbery in company
  • Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Damage to property x 2
  • Assault police
  • Serious breach bail x 3

The youth is expected to appear in court today.

Strike Force Trident have arrested a further three people this morning. They are expected to be charged later today.
