Northern Territory Police have arrested a man following a domestic violence incident that occurred in Jingili overnight.

It is alleged that two men known to each other were engaged in a physical altercation that later resulted in the death of a 41-year-old man. Police believe the assault took place between 9pm and 11pm.

Major Crime Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Palmerston Watch House.

The man has been remanded in custody and is expected to be charged with manslaughter later today.   

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Justene Dwyer said, “Domestic violence within the Territory is one of the largest issues faced by police. We urge anyone who is experiencing this, to report it to police on 131 444 or in an emergency call Triple 000.”
