Extradition – Drug offences

Police

Northern Territory Police have assisted in the extradition of a man in relation to drug offences.

The 37-year-old man was placed on a chartered flight from Darwin to Melbourne this morning.

He is expected to face charges relating to his involvement in the alleged importation of cocaine valued at around $40 million.

Superintendent Shaun Gill said, “The Territory Response Group along with members from the Australian Federal Police transferred the man this morning without incident.

“The importation of illicit substances into our country causes an enormous amount of damage to the most vulnerable in our communities. This extradition is an example of law enforcement across numerous jurisdictions working together to protect Australians.”
