Fatal – Palumpa

Police

Northern Territory Police are investigating after a teenager died in a vehicle fatality in Palumpa this afternoon.  The boy was an occupant of a 4WD utility and was reportedly riding in the tray of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

He is reported to have been ejected from the tray.  He and another uninjured passenger were located by NT Police officers on patrol, and taken to the clinic. Careflight attended but the boy was declared deceased. The other passenger is still being assessed by local clinic staff and Careflight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said “Major Crash detectives are travelling via Police Airwing to Palumpa to investigate the circumstances of the incident.”

“The adult male driver reportedly left the scene and is yet to be located by police.”

“Anyone who has any information about the incident or knows the identity and whereabouts of the driver, or other passengers, are urged to contact police on 131 444.

“The lives lost on roads now stands at 52 compared to 35 last year. Police continue to urge all motorists to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them on Territory roads.

“Our thoughts are with the community and family involved.”
