Northern Territory Police have charged a 39-year-old male today in relation to a fatal hit and run last month.

A 27-year-old man died when he was struck by a vehicle on Batten Road, Marrara on 19 December 2021.

Senior Sergeant Corey Borton from the Major Crash Investigations Unit said his team had worked relentlessly on this investigation to identify a suspect.

“Yesterday we seized a vehicle and we have been interviewing the driver today,” he said.

“If you are involved in a crash, stop immediately, render assistance and call police. Running is futile. I’d like to thank the public for providing information, and the media for their support in appealing for witnesses and sensitive reporting, which was a key factor leading to today’s events.”

He has been bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 2 March 2022.
