A man has died and several others remain in the Alice Springs hospital with serious injuries following a tour bus rollover near the community of Hermannsburg late yesterday.

The tour bus carrying 19 passengers from interstate, was travelling inbound east of Hermannsburg when it left the roadway and rolled several times before coming to a stop on the side of the road.

A 69-year old-male passenger died at the scene.

Five other passengers; three women aged 62, 67 and 70 were taken to the Alice Springs Hospital with serious injuries.

The 67-year-old woman is currently in ICU in a stable condition.

A 60-year-old man was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital with serious injuries and a 68-year-old man was treated for minor injuries.

The driver and remaining passengers received lacerations and bruising and were transported to Alice Springs.

Detectives from the NT Police Major Crash Investigation Unit and NT Worksafe are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
