Charges – Aggravated robberies – Palmerston CBD

Northern Territory Police have charged a 47-year-old man in relation to multiple aggravated robberies in Palmerston yesterday.

At 1:20 pm, the alleged offender assaulted an 82-year-old male victim outside a licensed premises in Palmerston CBD, where he stole the victim’s bank card.

At 4:00pm, the same alleged offender entered a bottle shop on Chung Wah Terrace and threatened staff before fleeing with a quantity of alcohol. The man returned to the same bottle shop an hour later, again, threatening staff and fleeing with more alcohol.

General duties and social order members attended the scene and arrested the man nearby. He was taken to Palmerston Watch House and was later charged with:

  • Aggravated Robbery x 3
  • Possession of a Controlled Weapon

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

In a separate occasion, Northern Territory Police have charged two males, aged 28 and 41, with aggravated robbery at the same bottle shop on Chung Wah Terrace yesterday.

At 5:20pm, the alleged offenders entered the licensed premises making threats to staff prior to stealing a quantity of alcohol.

Both men were arrested by general duties members nearby and have been charged with aggravated robbery.

They were remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
