Northern Territory Police have charged a man after an aggravated robbery in Darwin City yesterday.

At 4pm, a 33-year-old man entered a business on Cavanagh Street and allegedly stole a quantity of alcohol. An employee confronted the man, who allegedly threatened her with a syringe before fleeing the scene.

A short time later, general duties members arrested the man at the corner of Mitchell Street and Peel Street. A search of his person located 3 intravenous syringes.

Detectives from Serious Crime have since charged him with one count of aggravated robbery.  He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day said “This was a confronting incident for the employee and police commend her for immediately contacting police, allowing for a quick arrest.
