Charges – Domestic violence – Casuarina

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to numerous domestic violence offences around Casuarina this month.

On 17 January, the 39-year-old allegedly assaulted his 31-year-old female partner on Rowling Street, Casuarina. The man fled the scene and the victim suffered substantial swelling to her face.

On 21 January, the man allegedly assaulted his partner again at a service station on Trower Road, Casuarina. Police were called, however both had left the location prior to arrival and were unable to be located.

On 25 January, the man allegedly assaulted his partner with an edged weapon on Trower Road, causing a laceration to her left arm.

The man was arrested by general duties police on the evening of Wednesday 25 January.  Following initial investigations conducted by Strike Force Lyra, the man was charged with:

  • 3 x Aggravated assault
  • 4 x Engage in contravention of DVO

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

It is also a reminder to the public that in the Northern Territory, you must report Domestic and Family Violence.  We would like to extend our thanks to members of the public who continue to provide aid and make reports to police.”
