Small drug seizure leads to arrest - Darwin

Northern Territory Police arrested a 21-year-old yesterday, after seizing a small quantity of cannabis at an airport in Eaton, leading to police identifying further historical offending.

The Dog Operations Unit were undertaking proactive patrols when Drug Detection Dog Rafa responded to the male bound for a remote community.

Members seized a small amount of cannabis from the man’s boot where it is alleged that he furnished a false name.

Whilst officers were undertaking further checks, the man was found to have outstanding warrants for two counts of aggravated robbery, make threat to kill a person, aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful entry.

He was arrested at the scene and further charged with possess schedule 2 dangerous drug (less than traffickable quantity) and furnish false name to member.

He is expected to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
