Northern Territory Police have arrested a 28-year-old woman following a domestic dispute that resulted in a 32-year-old man being stabbed in the back.

At 5.18am the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre (JESCC) received a report of a male who had been stabbed at a residential address in Alice Springs. 

General Duty officers and TRG members attended the scene and identified the offender who made admissions to committing the offence and was arrested.

TRG provided immediate and vital medical intervention to the victim, who had suffered two lacerations to his right forearm, lacerations to one of his legs as well as a stab wound to the back.

St John Ambulance paramedics then provided critical care to the man and conveyed the victim to Alice Springs hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Assistant Commissioner Peter Kennon said, “The officers who attended the scene initially are to be commended.

“Police have been informed by St John that the excellent work of members delivering initial first aid to the victim more than likely saved his life.”

The offender remains in custody in Alice Springs and is expected to be charged later today.
