Call for information – Fatal crash – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a fatal vehicle crash in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 10:20pm, police received reports of a collision between a Holden Commodore, carrying 2 males and a female, and a Nissan Micra, carrying 1 male, along South Terrace, The Gap. A 44-year-old female is currently in a serious but stable condition while a 54-year-old male from the Holden died at the scene.

Police suspect intoxication and distraction are contributing factors in the crash.

Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are appealing to members of the public that were in the vicinity of South Terrace and Benstead Street, The Gap,  to come forward and assist police with their enquiries. In particular eye witnesses or anyone with dash cam or CCTV of the incident is urged to contact your nearest police station on 131 444 or alternatively Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police would also like to thank the witnesses who have already come forward and provided vital information.
